It need not be a dating arrangement being set up dating agencies online where they match your profile with someone else on the same online dating site. It could be someone you meet in anonymous chat rooms and decide that you want to get to know the person whom you chatted with.  Sounds very similar to physical dating stuff and sounds quite safe as well. However, slightly different though and exactly not safe. The difference is that you may not know who the person is behind the nickname you are dating online!

There is a huge demand for online dating services online. Those of us who are unable to make time and meet someone in person find this a useful medium to connect with someone. Also, there are no pre conceived notions about getting rejected for physical appearances in the first place. The anonymity provided by the Internet is exactly what is drawing the crowds. There are many genuine people out there who are looking for a soul mate online. However, there are even more predators who are preying on innocent victims via this medium as well.

Online dating is highly dangerous because its nature of anonymity. Anyone can become anyone online! When you are meeting someone in person, you get to see the physical appearance of the person, study the body language and even strike a personal rapport. However, when you meet someone online, you absolutely have no clue about these things. For all you know, you could be chatting to a person thrice your age and never know it.

When people engage in online relationship and exchange personal details, there is no security and assurance that the identity would be kept private and confidential. For all you know, you may have just passed your details to a stalker!

Then here is the risk of meeting up with the person you have been dating online. It could have been well and nice online and you decide that you need to meet this person in person and take your relationship forward. Beware though. You may be in for a shock of your life if you have never seen this person on webcam or in photo. Otherwise, if you have seen the person before, be sure that you are cordial and do not take the meeting overboard as the person is still a stranger no matter how many times you have met online.

Internet is a wonderful technology. It provides so much information and opens up so much of possibilities. Would we have ever thought of finding a soul mate online! This is now a reality. However, Internet is very dangerous if you are not careful. When using this medium for communication, be especially careful and do note that not everything is as you see on the surface.
