Dating & Relationships blog
Dating can be a nerve wrecking event for most of us. We are lost for words or get fidgety on out date that we are not even paying attention to what is being said to us in order to respond positively. This may actually irritate or confuse your date. Irritate in the sense that your date may feel you do not the meet-up or the conversation being made. Confuse in the sense that your date could in the same dilemma as you and do not know how to handle the situation. So, how can you connect with your date and make your date like you?
Do not be nervous
It’s easier said than done. I know. However, your nervousness can be manipulated to portray a more confident you to your date. You need to practise your speech before hand to do that. You need to keep in handy some conversation topics that you can share with your date in case the date does not know where to start. Taking hold of the starting conversation could settle you in quite well with your date.
Groom yourself well before the date
Perfume, deodorant, dress, makeup, shoes and all your accessories speak a lot about you. Find out where you are going and dress appropriately. Do take care not to overdress as you date may feel at a distant or undress as your date may find you cheap. First impression is very important and nothing but your dress and your overall appearance will make that impression.
Do not talk. Share
You can be the best speaker in the world. However, your date will be looking someone who can share the views and information instead a person who holds the conversation. You need to let go and go with the flow of the conversation. Share your personal life, your embarrassments, and your proud moments and reciprocate with active listening when your date is sharing the same. This way you will come across as an interesting person who is also a good listener. Anyone will like such personality in a date and you will soon be asked for the second date and many more to come.
Talk positively
Positive talks are great for a first date. Do not be artificial. If you a negative thinker, you just need to hold your tongue and not spoil the mood. If you are a naturally positive thinking person, be sure to rub your positivity in your conversation. This will gel well with your date and lift the mood well.
Mind your table manners
Be sure to be polite and follow all table etiquettes. This is not asking you be a culinary master but to be well mannered at the table. When you are ordering food, drinks or even when you call the waiter for the bill, you need to be polite.
In conclusion, take some effort and be prepared for your date. This will show through your appearance and behaviour with your date. Once you make a positive first impression, everything else will follow. Do note that your date may be feeling the same nervousness or even more than you. Hence, try to leave your jitters at home.
